Scott Rands

A change in leadership for our Planned Giving Committee

We’re pleased to welcome Scott Rands as the new Chair of our Planned Giving Committee starting in June 2023. Scott brings his professional expertise and community connections to help us foster planned gifts in support of Michael Garron Hospital. The committee was previously chaired by Michael McGhee, who completes his term as a board member at the end of June. We’re grateful for Michael’s dedicated leadership in the role.

Scott began volunteering with the Planned Giving Committee in 2020, helping to plan three Professional Advisor Breakfast events. As Chair, Scott will provide guidance and oversight for the committee’s work.

With a strong background in investment management, estate and trust services and private foundations, Scott is an advocate for total wealth management planning. He leads his own team of advisors as part of the Rands Advisory Team, ScotiaMcLeod. ScotiaWealth recognized him through its Share the Wealth program, which provides cash awards to ScotiaMcLeod advisors for their exceptional involvement in their communities. When he received his award in 2022, Scott chose Michael Garron Hospital Foundation as his charity of choice.

With three active boys, Scott and his family are very familiar with our hospital’s Stavro Emergency Department. They have also been loyal donors since 2010. We recently named the Rands Family Simulation Centre,  located in our Ken and Marilyn Thomson Patient Care Centre, in recognition of their generous support.

We are grateful to Scott for his commitment to the community we serve and look forward to working with him in his new role.
