Three bouquets created for a remembrance event

Celebrating legacy gifts that support our hospital

Remembrance event honours donors whose planned gifts are now making a difference

Generous community members have supported our hospital since its very beginning. We are grateful for every gift, including gifts made in donors’ wills.

To honour donors whose legacy gifts are now making a difference at our hospital, we invited their family members and friends to a remembrance event in June 2025. It celebrated bequests of $10,000 and more that have been received over the past five years.

“The gifts that these special people planned years ago are making a difference today,” says Yolanda Bronstein, Legacy Giving Manager at Michael Garron Hospital Foundation. “It’s a privilege to say thank-you for the legacy that they created with such generous forethought.”

At the remembrance event, guests shared photos of their loved ones and wrote messages on flowers that were delivered to care teams throughout the hospital as a tangible symbol of the donors’ impact.

“It was wonderful to represent my family and to feel the love and gratitude for all the donors,” says R. Lloyd, whose late uncle made a gift to our hospital in his will. “Bringing my uncle’s photo and writing a note for the nursing staff on the beautiful bouquet made it a very meaningful experience.”

Award for Excellence in Legacy Giving: recognizing our dedication

Saying thank-you is important to us. In fact, our dedication to celebrating past and future legacy gifts has received accolades in the charitable sector. The Canadian Association of Gift Planners GTA recently presented our team with its Award for Excellence in Legacy Giving, in recognition of the thought and care we take to thank donors who plan future gifts.

“We’re truly grateful for this award,” says Laura Byl, Legacy Giving Manager at the foundation. “It’s a tribute to the commitment that we and our foundation colleagues and volunteers bring to honouring all legacy donors for their extraordinary generosity.”
